As humans, we want things to be clearly defined.

I want to share some thoughts I have, as to why some persons are
inimical.
As humans, we want things to be clearly defined. We want our
choices to be obvious. We don't like complex issues with ill-defined parameters.
When I was young, I watched old cowboy movies on Saturday mornings. The plots were simple. There was a struggle between good and evil. The hero, wore a white hat. The bad guy had a black hat. Even a child could follow the plot. Emotions were easily evoked. I cheered for the good guy and booed the bad guy.
I see the appeal of Christianity to be like that. For the
fundamentalists, Christianity provides easy, clear-cut choices.
Accepting Jesus is "good", those that follow different religions are "bad". Emotions are easily evoked. Critical thinking can be avoided.
I see this desire for parsimony at the root of why some are inimical to Srila Narayan Maharaja.
In life, the important choices are usually complex. Critical
thinking is required to avoid emotion based choices. A fundamental
component of ignorance is resistance to change. Too few of us have
learned to use critical thinking when making choices.
I ask those broad minded persons who are examining these issues to avoid choices dictated by emotions. Here, the fundamental choice is to avoid the "elephant" offense.
