He told me something I had never heard anywhere before

Haribol,
All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva
There was a time, about two years ago, that one of the primary "attackers" of Srila Narayan Maharaj was more open to looking at a different side of this controversial Vaisnava.  This man knows who he is, I won't mention names here....but I recall how deeply I respected one of his realizations.  He told me something I had never heard anywhere before, and I have not heard anywhere since.....but was such an interesting conception.  He said, "If the guru says, that's a rope, pick it up".....and the disciple says back to Sri guru, "my dear guru, that is not a rope lying on the ground, it is a snake, and its bite could hurt you or I very much"...truly the guru would be so appreciative .  He would be so happy that he had a disciple who understood his heart.....a disciple who was willing to take the risk of not following blindly, to be able to consider, with deepest repsect, what is in my gurus best interest.
Now adays, I do not see that very many people are asking, "What is Srila Prabhupada's heart?  Would he want others from the Gaudiya Math to continue offering their association?"   "What would Srila Prabhupada want Srila Narayan Maharaj to be doing?"   They don't stop and wonder, truly, if Srila Prabhupada would indeed be extremely grateful and happy that other Gaudiya Vaisnavas are attempting to spread Krsna consciousness beyond the borders of India.  Didn't Srila Prabhupada ask not only Srila Narayan Maharaj, but others as well from the Gaudiya Math, to assist him?   Well, so isn't Srila Narayan Maharaj trying to do that?   What, he should just sit in Vrndavan and be quiet?  Would Srila Prabhupada want that his contemporaries be attempting to spread Krsna consciousness according to their ability, through out the world, as he did?
Truly, the Mahabharat gives us so many examples that we can look at for our present times.  Didn't Yudhisthira Maharaja  demand that the Gandharva prince who had captured Duryondhana turn Duryodhana over to him, rather than letting the Gandharva  kill him?   Why?  He said that, "Amongst ourselves, we may quarrel, we may be the five Pandavas, and they are the 101 Kauravas, but when it comes to quarrels with outsiders, we are one family".    So, why is it that on Srila Prabhupada's request, Srila Narayan Maharaj is trying his best to encourage jivas to take up the path of bhakti, and be united with those who are truly Vaisnavas, but there are those who are saying, "He is not one of us, he is against Srila Prabhupada?"  It doesn't make any sense to me at all.  What is Srila Prabhupada's heart?   To bring the conditioned souls to the knowledge of their postion of service to Sri Sri Radha and Krsna.
What was Srila Narayan Maharaj's motive in questioning the wording of statements about women coming to
Krsna consciousness, their level of intelligence, etc?   It was to deflect any feeling of their being offended by the tone of the words, in other words, an attempt to encourage them to come to bhakti.  Wouldn't this be pleasing to Srila Prabhupada? That those who may have been discouraged and felt somewhat neglected might be encouraged?  It is time for those who call themselves senior disciples to start thinking about what Srila Prabhupada would want.  Would he want endless damnation of those whom he lived with for many years, his friends from before he came to America?   I don't think so.   Let's try to remember....Vaisnavas should be united with each other, and separate themselves from the nondevotees, not from other Vaisnavas who relish the pastimes of Radha and Krsna.
Do some of us remember the beauty that Srila Prabhupada had, in giving a feeling of strength, love, respect, and support to each and every person he met, and directing them to serve Sri guru and Radha and Krsna?  How many more years until some of his disciples can attain that platform...."let us give a spirit of understnding, support, kindness.... not animosity, to others"
One last thought in parting, in all honesty....how many of us have wondered at times, "Is this passage (in any given purport of Srila Prabhupada's) his exact wording, or was it rewritten?"  I know through the years I have definitely wondered a few times....particularly as I had the original three books, volumes 1, 2, and 3 of the first canto of Srimad Bhagavatam, and OH!  what a difference between those and later editions!!   But Srila Narayan Maharaj asks the same question, and he is condemned?  Wake up, people!  Let's look at how much each of us is glorifying Radha and Krsna, and have respect for others who are doing such. We may have differences of opinion on various topics, but the essence, the core of what we are all doing, is the same.

falling in the dust of the lotus feet of the Vaisnavas,
Mahalaksmi DAsi
